Baptism FAQs

The importance of being Baptized
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BAPTISM?
It represents Jesus Christ’s death and RESURRECTION.
"Christ died for our sins... He was buried...And He was raised on the third day." – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
"
For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him, you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead." – Colossians 2:12

It represents my NEW LIFE as a follower of Christ.
"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." – Romans 6:4

Baptism is like a wedding ring: It’s the outward representation of the commitment you made in your heart to God. Baptism shows that you already believe, but doesn’t make you a believer. Baptism does not “save” you. Only Christ saves you by grace through faith in Him.

WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
ANYONE who is a believer in Jesus Christ. "Those who accepted His message were baptized." – Acts 2:41
WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
To follow the example set by JESUS CHRIST.
"At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan." – Mark 1:9
Because Christ COMMANDS it.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." – Matthew 28:19-20

WHEN SHOULD I GET BAPTIZED?
As soon as you have believed! There is no reason to delay. As soon as you receive Christ into your life, you can -- and should be – baptized. You can be a Christian without being baptized, but you can’t be an obedient Christian without following the Lord in believer’s baptism.

WHY BE BAPTIZED BY IMMERSION?
Because JESUS was baptized that way
"As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water." – Matthew 3:16
Every baptism in the BIBLE was by immersion.
The Greek word “baptize” means, “to immerse or dip underwater.”

It best represents the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
